AMP Engineering was engaged by Bathla Group to deliver modifications to the existing signalised intersection of Schofields Road, Junction Road and Pelican Road to accommodate the fourth intersection leg serving the development at 14 Schofields Road. The works interfaced with an operating intersection, requiring staged construction and coordination of traffic signal modifications while maintaining vehicle, bus and pedestrian movements.
• Removal of temporary concrete Jersey barriers following acceptance of the required traffic management and WAD documentation
• Removal of redundant signage, linemarking and chevron markings to suit the revised intersection arrangement
• Milling and asphalt resurfacing of nominated areas affected by linemarking removal, including repair of pavement damage caused by temporary barriers
• Crack sealing of joints between new and existing asphalt surfaces
• Installation of revised thermoplastic linemarking, including lane lines, intersection continuity lines, stop lines, directional arrows and median edge markings
• Installation and modification of regulatory signage, including lane-use signs and the Pelican Road street sign
• Modification of vehicle and pedestrian signal displays and associated equipment to suit the four-way intersection configuration
• Installation or replacement of vehicle detector loops, including loops affected by asphalt milling and resurfacing
• Amendment of traffic signal phasing and coordination with the existing SCATS-linked signal system
• Modification of pedestrian crossing arrangements and associated audio-tactile push-button facilities where required by the accepted signal design
• Installation of nominated subsoil drainage connections to the culvert headwalls
• Reinstatement of existing signs, markings, services and adjoining surfaces affected by the works
The works were coordinated with TfNSW and the relevant stakeholders, with the revised pavement markings, detection and signal operation integrated into the existing road network.
