AMP Engineering was engaged to manage and deliver the upgrade of the existing Transport for NSW traffic control signal intersection at Parramatta Road (HW5) and John Street, Lidcombe (TCS 0597). The works involved coordinating the traffic signal modifications with TfNSW, Cumberland City Council, utility authorities and other project stakeholders, while maintaining traffic and pedestrian movements through this highly constrained and heavily trafficked corridor.
The scope of works included:
• Planning, programming and overall management of the TCS intersection works
• Implementation of approved traffic control and staged lane closures
• Completion of associated civil works in accordance with the approved civil design
• Installation of a new traffic signal post and associated footings, conduits, pits and cabling
• Modification and installation of vehicle and pedestrian signal lanterns
• Installation of audio-tactile pedestrian push buttons
• Installation and modification of vehicle detection loops and associated detector systems
• Controller, signal phasing and SCATS integration works
• Coordination of CCTV infrastructure and existing services
• Associated pavement, footpath, kerb, line-marking and signage reinstatement
• Testing, commissioning and verification of the completed signal installation
• Preparation of quality records, as-built documentation and handover to TfNSW
The works required careful coordination of civil, electrical and traffic-management activities to minimise disruption to road users and surrounding businesses. AMP Engineering managed the interfaces between all disciplines and stakeholders to ensure the upgraded intersection was delivered safely, in accordance with TfNSW requirements and ready for successful commissioning and handover.
