AMP Engineering was engaged by NL Gentile to construct and modify the stormwater crossing associated with the residential development at 539 Pacific Highway, including drainage infrastructure and reinstatement of affected road pavement and pedestrian areas. Major changes included replacement of the box culvert arrangement with twin 750 mm diameter pipe culverts due to clashes with existing services, together with relocation and reconfiguration of drainage pits to suit the existing utilities.
• Survey set-out and verification of existing utilities, drainage alignments and construction levels
• Removal of affected drainage infrastructure and excavation for the revised culvert and pit arrangement
• Installation of twin 750 mm diameter reinforced concrete pipe culverts, including bedding, jointing, backfilling and compaction
• Relocation and reconstruction of drainage pits to accommodate existing electricity, water, gas and telecommunications services
• Construction of reinforced concrete pit bases, walls and cover slabs, including benching, grates, access covers and pipe connections
• Connection of the revised drainage infrastructure to the retained stormwater system
• Protection of existing utilities and coordination of excavation and installation around service clashes
• Reconstruction of affected Pacific Highway pavement and reinstatement of kerb and gutter where required
• Reconstruction and regrading of affected concrete footpath, including adjustment of pit lids and installation of associated subsoil drainage
• Reinstatement of affected linemarking, guideposts, batters and turfed areas
The works required coordination of the revised drainage layout with the designer and relevant authorities, while managing construction within the operating road corridor and maintaining road and pedestrian access.
