The interface of Living Choice's retirement village with Galston Road (a TfNSW asset) required a detailed roadworks design to allow for the approval of the 85-villa retirement village. AMP Engineering was engaged to undertake the TfNSW external roadworks interface, Sydney Water potable and sewer upgrades, and landscape works for the internal village.
The design was aimed at achieving safer ingress and egress for the occupants of the village. The geotechnical investigation identified poor foundation bearing capacity and large amounts of groundwater. To alleviate the risk of pavement failures, a No Fines Concrete encased stormwater line was completed along the extent of the roadworks.
Galston Road is the main thoroughfare to the Galston Gorge and carries a large volume of traffic each day. To ensure safe work operations, AMP Engineering prepared a Construction Traffic Management Plan which identified the use of Steel Zoneguard barriers, pinned to reduce the deflection zone if struck by passing vehicles.
