Mount Victoria Pedestrian Refuge

Client
Ventia
Location
Mount Victoria, NSW

AMP Engineering was engaged by Ventia to deliver pedestrian refuge and associated roadworks on Station Street, near the Montgomery Street intersection at Mount Victoria. The project involved upgrading the crossing arrangement and adjoining pavement to improve pedestrian connectivity near Mount Victoria Station.

The scope of works included:
• Planning, programming and management of the civil construction works
• Site establishment, survey set-out and protection of existing services
• Excavation and preparation of foundations for the pedestrian refuge and associated concrete works
• Construction of concrete refuge islands, median islands and kerb extensions
• Construction of pedestrian ramps and concrete connections to the existing footpaths
• Provision of pedestrian access across the existing gutter while maintaining drainage flows
• Localised pavement reconstruction and asphalt resurfacing through the crossing area and adjoining approaches
• Modification of road line marking, parking delineation and signage to suit the revised road layout
• Reinstatement of disturbed surfaces and completion of associated quality and handover documentation

The works required coordination of concrete construction, pavement works and pedestrian access within an existing road corridor. The upgraded layout provides a staged crossing point and clearer traffic delineation for pedestrians and road users.
