AMP Engineering, in joint venture with Absolutions Group, delivered the sealed perimeter road and associated earthworks and drainage infrastructure at RAAF Williamtown as part of the EST08515 project. The works were undertaken within an active Defence airbase, with a major interface with the operating airport, requiring close coordination of construction activities, site access, personnel and plant movements with ongoing Defence and airport operations.

• Survey set-out and verification of existing services, road alignments and construction levels
• Site preparation, stripping and bulk earthworks to establish the road formation, shoulders, batters and drainage corridors
• Subgrade preparation and improvement, including treatment of unsuitable material and compaction to the specified requirements
• Construction of full-depth road pavement comprising 150 mm DGS40 subbase, 150 mm DGB20 basecourse, 7 mm primer seal and 50 mm AC10 asphalt surfacing
• Construction of pavement connections and smooth transitions into the existing sealed road network
• Installation of stormwater culverts and concrete headwalls to maintain drainage and floodwater movement across the road alignment
• Installation of scour protection at culvert inlets and outlets
• Construction of grass-lined drainage swales and grading to connect with the surrounding natural surface
• Installation of subsoil drainage along the low side of the pavement, including connections to the stormwater system and inspection risers
• Topsoiling and rehabilitation of disturbed shoulders, batters and adjoining areas
• Implementation of erosion and sediment controls, protection of existing services and coordination around the existing perimeter security infrastructure

The works combined road construction and drainage delivery within an operational aviation environment, requiring careful sequencing and management of the interface between construction activities and continuing airbase and airport operations.
